Christy: I didn’t see this coming…

Growing up my parents owned an Electronic Business so I started working with them when I was about 13 years old. This is the job I continued throughout my life.

I did try a few other jobs along the way, a hostess, and a short time at a burger joint, but I always ended up back at an electronic job. When my parents moved away I was about 27 and I had a son.

I started working for a business building helicopter gimbal for camera systems and I thought this was going to be my career forever.

It was a fun job and very stable, but I have a tendency towards drinking and an addictive personality. All my co-workers and I would going to lunch and order drinks, or we would like to party together on the weekends.

My addiction took over from that point, and when I was 30 my dad died. I dug myself deeper into a pit of despair and loss that I have ever felt. I stopped going to work, or I was too hung over to stay at work. I had two children by then, and needless to say I lost my job.

This began my journey to a long road of joblessness, homelessness, and addiction. I was lost and scared with no way out it seemed. I wanted so badly to get better,  but I just did not have the tools.

It was not until the Year 2013, and three kids later, that I finally was “rescued”. I along with my significant other caught a CPS case, and got the opportunity to stay in a local treatment center. I finally started to feel some sort of HOPE. I started to learn a new way to live, and I found a love for GOD that still carries me through some very difficult times.

I got a job at an Independent living center about 1 year sober. I did linens, made beds, and cleaned apartments there. It was wonderful, but after a few years I began to wonder if there was something else out there for me?

I was attending a local group called Project H.E.A.R.T and through this group my significant other met Sean Walsh and he was hired at the time with his home building company.

Soon after they started there cabinet business with Brian Nightingale called Walcraft Cabinetry.

I was offered a job with them in 2018, and I have to admit I was very unsure of change. It was scary but so exciting to think that I could be a part of this new business and build a carrier as a Kitchen designer and learn sales. So in March 2018 I began the journey with Walcraft Cabinetry.

It was hard at first; I had to learn a lot! I never thought in a million years I would be in Kitchen design and sales. I didn’t know what a B18 is; I knew how to solder resistors and build PC boards, or fold a fitted sheet!!

Since starting with Walcraft Cabinetry I have gained so much knowledge, but it also gave me an opportunity to grow in life.

Looking back it is so crazy to think of what God had planned for me that I had no idea would be to come.

I got married!! We were able to buy a house because of our job stability, and I bought my first car! I am able to pay for my children to do dance, or cheer, or any sport they would like to because I have a stable job.

But, more importantly than all the materialistic things I am able to feel like I am apart of a family and a solution in this world.

Our values and our mission is to serve a greater purpose in this world. We pray, laugh, and cry together, and although we are a Christ centered company we never push religion on anyone.

We only love.

We adopted a child from another country as a company and we are committed to help this child go to school and have a life they never dreamed of just as we do here.

Walcraft Cabinetry has helped me become a better version of myself, and I am excited to see what we do with the years to come.

Sincerely; Christy Thompson
