No matter what your style is, or how big your kitchen is, there are some things that will make it feel custom and unique. Walcraft Cabinetry has put together a list of six steps to help you design the perfect space for yourself.

Start with a clean slate – remove all the old countertops, cabinets, and flooring

The first step to a new kitchen is getting rid of the old stuff. But before you go ripping it out, there are some things that will make your life easier when installing RTA kitchen cabinets. You may need power boxes for outlets and switches where all those cabinets went. If you have any plumbing pipes or other wires in the way, these will need to be rerouted as well.

TIP: RTA cabinets are less than half the cost of custom built, and they can be installed in a shorter amount of time. They will also come with warranties from manufacturers to ensure quality.

Next up is flooring. You’ll want something durable that’s easy to clean for food spills. You’ll also want to choose something that lines up with the rest of your house’s style (either modern, rustic, or traditional).

Add new cabinetry to your kitchen that is custom made for you and your space

Once your kitchen is empty, it’s time to start the remodel by installing RTA kitchen cabinets. If you know the layout and dimensions of your space, some RTA cabinet manufacturers can provide a design services for free! They will help you figure out what size and style of cabinetry best fits in with your space.

TIP: Because RTA cabinets are not pre-built, ready to assemble cabinets are the cheapest option for a new kitchen renovation. RTA cabinets will also come with warranties from manufacturers to ensure quality.

Through this renovation process, one thing you might want to think about before installing ready to assemble cabinets is how much storage space you’ll need in your kitchen and where those appliances should go? If there’s not enough room on one side, RTA cabinets can be installed on either side of a wall.

Another thing you’ll want to think about before the assembly of your kitchen cabinets is the size and shape of your kitchen island if there’s one in the space. You may need an L-shape or U-Shape design for it to fit properly.

Order a color palette that feels cohesive with the rest of the house

The last thing RTA cabinets will need before installation are the colors. There’s a lot of different color options for RTA cabinets, and it can be overwhelming to decide on one color! One option is sticking with something neutral like white or dark brown because they won’t change as much over time.

Another idea is choosing a style that matches your home design. RTA cabinets come in styles that range from traditional to modern and RTA cabinet colors can match any color palette you desire!

TIP: You should always use high quality paint when painting your RTA kitchen cabinetry as cheap paint will peel off over time which will shorten the life of your new cabinets.

The final step is adding the finishing touches. RTA kitchen cabinets will need to be installed with stainless steel screws and silicone sealant in order to ensure quality. You may also want to add affordable light fixtures for a brighter room, and buy more efficient appliances like an oven that matches the style of your kitchen cabinets.

Finish up by adding in new appliances like a dishwasher or oven to match your style!

When it comes to RTA cabinets, one of the most important features is that you can customize them. You may want a dishwasher or stovetop with matching kitchen cabinets colors .

Keep it simple with one large island instead of multiple smaller ones

Once RTA cabinets are installed, it’s time to choose a kitchen island. Some kitchens tend to have more space on one side of the wall than another and this can make choosing an island challenging. One idea is keeping the size small with just one small peninsula instead of two or three smaller ones scattered throughout your kitchen.

You’ll also want to make sure your kitchen island is attached to the cabinetry with a built-in desk or countertop.

Pick out some nice lighting fixtures so you can cook comfortably at night without straining your eyes

The last thing RTA cabinets needs are new lighting fixtures. You’ll want to choose something that complements your kitchen’s style and is functional as well!
