First, you’ll need to do some prep work and then follow these steps:
Measure your opening—Determine the height of your cabinets by measuring from the baseboard to where they will be mounted on the wall. This measurement should also include any crown molding or trim that will cover an edge when it is time to install the cabinets.
Mount your baseboards—Once you’ve determined how much space you’ll need from your baseboard to where the cabinet will be mounted, measure and cut your baseboards. Mount them on the wall before installing any cabinets.
Install RTA kitchen cabinets—With a helper if necessary, place one side of an assembled RTA drawer front up against the wall where you want it installed so that there is about two inches between the top of the drawer front and the ceiling. Draw a pencil line where you want it installed on your baseboard, then use a drill to make pilot holes for screws.
Use construction adhesive if desired—Apply construction adhesive or silicone sealant around all sides of each cabinet’s back edges that will be touching wood. Screw the cabinet into place using long wood screws or heavy duty drywall anchors.
RTA stands for ready to assemble. It is essential to understand this one truth: every cabinet ever made was at some point an RTA cabinet. The only thing that makes an unassembled cabinet unique is that you can purchase it in its unassembled form.
Walcraft ready to assemble cabinets are solid wood, and we pride ourselves in finding quality products to create your dream kitchen. You can save money buying online from the Walcraft RTA store. Kitchen RTA cabinets are a great choice for a customer creating a new kitchen.

Every cabinet ever made is a RTA cabinet, at some point. So everyone makes them! The question is who sells them in this unassembled form as a focus. Mainly they’re made overseas in Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, and other parts of Southeast Asia. They used to be primarily made in China until the trade wars started as well as the anti-dumping lawsuit from American manufacturers against Chinese manufacturers (a ploy to take out the competition so they can drive prices up, which they did). This ultimately resulted in manufacturers moving to other countries and prices increasing.
Right here of course! There are many online companies who sell RTA Cabinets. The question one must ask oneself is can I trust this company? To put it plainly, the online cabinet industry is shady. DO YOUR RESEARCH! Look at their BBB profile, their Google profile, Houzz, and Yelp, for complaints and bad reviews. Learn how here. There are a few of the top RTA retailers who have actually removed their Google reviews because they had so many one star reviews. We do not want to name names, but look into the company deeply! Purchasing cabinets online is a big deal with many working parts. It is worth digging in and making sure you’re making your best decision. Just because two companies have the same or similar options, does not mean they’re apples to apples. It means they have the same option. WHAT MATTERS is what takes place after the sale!
Cheap, low-quality materials will wear out and break quickly. Some cabinet manufacturers use particle board that is light weight but durable for their products because of its strength and cost effectiveness. It’s also a great way to save on shipping costs. But what that means for you and your kitchen is, well it will be cheap. And you know how the saying goes…”you get what you pay for.”
We partner with rta kitchen cabinet manufacturers who use plywood in their construction. Which means rta kitchen cabinets from Walcraft are made from quality materials. All our cabinets come standard with solid wood construction and no particle board.
Shaker style is the most popular style of kitchen cabinet. The clean, smooth look of Shaker cabinets helps them to resist passing design trends, allowing them to act as a blank canvas for your kitchen upgrade. Shaker-style is also extremely versatile and can be used in contemporary, traditional, modern and transitional kitchens.
White kitchen cabinets are the most well-liked kitchen cabinet out there. White exudes an energized, happy feeling as it projects and reflects light and airiness. Homeowners love white cabinets because they feel clean, inviting and truly brighten up the whole space. White is also fad-proof and is a color that will continue to be popular and work across the ages.
Traditional style wood cabinetry is also still a favorite among homeowners looking to update their homes.
These cabinets are not specifically designed for bathrooms and may not withstand moisture or humidity so they may get damaged. But many of our customers have used a base cabinet as a vanity with a solid surface countertop on top. And those same customers are happy with their choice and investment. You can check out some of those reviews here.
Kitchen trends are constantly changing and it can be hard to know when that next big fad is coming. Some trends never change, like shaker-style and white cabinets. But there are a few designs that are becoming more popular such as bolder colors, two-toned cabinets or even more of a retro feel. White will always be popular but a lot of people are experimenting with a two-toned look and painting their upper cabinets white while keeping the lower cabinets a blue or green. Bold colors are in so don’t be afraid of them! Dark wood cabinets are also finding popularity as people are looking to go back in time with their kitchens. Ultimately, whatever style you choose is the right choice for you.

Back in the day, kitchen cabinet styles were cut and dry. There was mostly traditional, contemporary and country. Today, cabinet door styles are more flexible and have far more to do with personal taste. That being said, many types of kitchen cabinets can be used interchangeably for different kitchen designs.

The most common reasons to choose RTA Cabinets is value, availability, and satisfaction. It is, after all, much more satisfying to look at your new cabinets that you built, versus the ones you bought! You can also save a bunch of money in the process, end up with more bang for the buck, and get your kitchen cabinets much faster than other ways. The best part? You’ll end up with cabinets that are better quality than the American made ones that cost 30-50% more. You will have to swallow that they’re imported though! For such an instance we recommend jumping in your Japanese car, burning the Iranian gas, walking into the coffee shop on your Chinese shoes, grabbing a latte and sitting on your American butt, and celebrating the hard work it took to now have a beautiful new kitchen at a fraction of the cost! If that does not work, we’re an American company who has numerous Americans working because of you. You go you…
The majority of all imported RTA Kitchen Cabinets are built with ½” plywood, Birch hardwood, hardwood dovetail drawers, a conversion varnish finish, and soft-close door and drawer hardware. Each manufacturer uses differing assembly methods and quality of materials. The greater question is how they’re made and not just what they’re made from. Some use the cheapest materials and ways to build their cabinets, while others focus on quality. We only work with quality manufacturers who care about quality. This breaks it down.
